  • Sat, 12:20: Hiked the paved jogging path to Fort Wilderness, past Circle D Ranch with the horses getting ready for work, then got takeout @ Trail's End
  • Sat, 12:20: Eating breakfast on the porch of Pioneer Hall, faint breeze to relieve the morning humidity a little. Very little.
  • Sat, 15:14: I'm glad I made the trek to Fort Wilderness, Circle D, etc, but the breakfast was standard counter service fare--prob better @ Roaring Fork.
  • Sat, 15:15: I'd hoped for better quality off the Trail's End buffet, but no.
  • Sat, 15:19: Got back from breakfast in time for the free WL tour--very nice, though guide was not exceptional. Spoke too fast, sounded memorized.
  • Sat, 15:20: How far does Disney go? The 'geyser' has wind monitors, height is adjusted to not spray too many guests when it erupts.
  • Sat, 15:22: Back to tour guide--did have a nice chat after it was over, talking about the natural hydrology, Disney's efforts at restoration.
  • Sat, 18:20: Chilled in hotel room for a while, headed to Animal Kingdom via Wal-Mart--with no cell phone, I need a watch.
  • Sat, 18:23: Short rain storm on the way to AK raised humidity to 100%.
  • Sat, 18:23: I think there is reserved parking for Harambe Nights, but I got sent to regular lot. Wasn't too far out, in any case.
  • Sat, 18:29: Outpost store before security still has pin vest w lots of pins but nothing interesting today.
  • Sat, 18:31: Guest Services is the pin jackpot--loads of the newest pins. Cell phones, balloons, villain sidekicks...no MagicBands. Can only get 2. :(
  • Sat, 18:56: Wandered to Africa in search of unsweetened iced coffee, no luck. Kept going to Asia, settled for egg roll and iced tea @ Yak and Yeti.
  • Sat, 18:58: FP+ for regular Lion King show--while in line to enter the rain started. Got another use fr the Disney poncho bought a few years back.
  • Sat, 19:52: I've read that the Lion King show is the same as the old location, but several parts felt fresh to me. Theater layout is the same.
  • Sat, 19:54: Had to hustle to my Finding Nemo FP+ show--don't think I planned this well. :) After that I have a safari FP back in Africa.
  • Sat, 22:53: Safari was quite good--giraffes close enough to touch, 2 lions on the high rock, white rhino crossing right in front of truck.
  • Sat, 22:54: Wandered to front, found the Pumbaa pin stroller (not much luck), lots of good cast lanyards though. I think AK lanyards got refreshed today
  • Sat, 22:55: Checked in for Harambe Nights at front gate: I'm a zebra. Walked Maharajah Trail, tigers quite active.
  • Sat, 22:57: Held on the Asia-Africa walkway near Flights of Wonder until 6:30, then they walked us in to the appetizer street party around the theater.
  • Sat, 22:59: Had Durban chicken bites, cheeseburger rolls (egg-roll-ish) with some spiced cheese dip, Jungle Juice with a little rum.
  • Sat, 22:59: Celebrity narrator is Patina Miller, of Pippin. Can't remember if she was on the night we caught it.
  • Sat, 23:08: Entered theater early to cool off, by luck am about 4 rows up, close to door end of row so pretty good angle on stage.
  • Sat, 23:10: Got my paper tube of "lion chow", due to dark is hard to tell what's in there. First taste was an African spiced pecan.
  • Sat, 23:17: They added cushions to the benches, which helps. Still backless though--only the premium seats on the floor are chairs w backs.
  • Sat, 23:19: Lion chow has a high proportion of very sweet things, amid a few curry-ish croutons. Nothing is real crisp, prob. Florida humidity at work.
  • Sun, 02:48: Back at hotel, having left the street party at 9:30. Saw either Epcot or HS fireworks, then MK fireworks fr WL parking lot.
  • Sun, 02:49: Lion King show was quite good, not great. Wasn't as heavy on film clips as reviews had me believe--dancers and singer were the best.
  • Sun, 02:51: Lots of cast members to direct us around the corner fr theater to Harambe street party..I headed back to safari area, less crowded.
  • Sun, 03:08: Still weren't enough tables, I used top of trash can in best F&W Epcot style. Later I recalled reading that Tusker House was open.
  • Sun, 03:10: Wandered into Tusker House just to look around. Lots of seating, of course, A/C, and I think all of the food station types.
  • Sun, 03:11: Tusker House atmosphere is cool--I still want to do a character meal there.
  • Sun, 03:18: Tried a lot of the food, skipped stuff over goat cheese pap and the fish, and watermelon salads. Butter chicken is a winner every time.
  • Sun, 03:21: More good foods: roasted beet salad, mango salad, mini samosas. Naan and red pepper hummus was excellent: papadum got rubbery in humidity.
  • Sun, 03:23: Dessert faves: amarula caramel sauce for apples, pineapple w toasted coconut, chai cream, and little chocolate bites.
  • Sun, 03:28: Street party: lots of dancing, lots of characters out--Mickey, Timon, Rafiki, stilt walkers. Photo op w giraffe float from extinct AK parade
  • Sun, 03:29: My car seemed a lot further out in the lot this evening than when I parked it. Definitely missed out on the reserved block.
  • Sun, 03:34: New FitBit will have unrealistic view of my activity level: today was 25,007 steps, 11.2 miles, 13 flights of stairs.
