  • Sat, 15:23: Fliks Flyers
  • Sat, 15:23: Getting something to eat and/or drink at Pacific Wharf food area.
  • Sat, 15:37: I got a kids chicken and brown rice meal, turned down squeeze tube of applesauce, the banana, and box of milk, added iced tea.
  • Sat, 16:19: Pulled FastPasses for Soarin, off to California Screaming. I took a pass on the coaster, rode King Tritons Carousel.
  • Sat, 16:31: Otters make nice carousel figures.
  • Sat, 16:53: Working around the pier, doing the Fun Wheel, K and her nephews at least in a swinging car. I've got another shady bench to people-watch
  • Sat, 17:07: View of Grizzly Peak from Paradise Pier.
  • Sat, 18:45: Split off to take a break and change shoes at hotel. Now headed back to park for our Soarin fast passes
  • Sat, 18:56: Kris, Eric, & co coming from Toy Story Midway Mania. S was back at hotel catching up on sleep from short night.
  • Sat, 18:59: Meanwhile back on the East Coast, *my* sister in law just arrived at Epcot for an evening party associated w the ALA convention in Orlando
  • Sat, 19:38: Got the top row for Soarin, so you don't see other rows' shoes film is great.
  • Sat, 19:42: New Soarin has a lot of distortion, fr center of left side. Taj Mahal towers, Monument Valley, Eiffel Tower all strongly curved.
  • Sat, 19:43: Off to Radiator Springs Racers. K taking a hydration break at Flo's instead.
  • Sat, 20:24: Park hopped to Disneyland
  • Sat, 20:36: Sent K's nephews off to pull FastPasses for Hyperspace Mtn, window is 11:15 pm or so. They may or may not use them--I won't last that late
  • Sat, 20:36: Plan is to try Big Thunder, Pirates, Haunted Mansion standby, app says shorter wait times.
  • Sat, 20:51: In standby queue for Big Thunder Mountain. 20 min wait posted.
  • Sat, 20:56: I'm always surprised that Big Thunder entrance is across from the riverboat dock at DL, very unlike WDW's back corner.
  • Sat, 21:10: Some good glimpses of Star Wars Land construction site from Big Thunder ride and exit queue.
  • Sat, 21:11: In line for Pirates, 15 min wait posted.
  • Sat, 21:48: Quite a splash at the first drop in Pirates, I have a damp sleeve and wet butt.
  • Sat, 21:49: Picking up skewers at Bengal Barbecue as a snack before the dessert party.
  • Sat, 22:01: Love the Bengal Barbecue bacon wrapped asparagus. Didn't survive long enough for a picture.
  • Sat, 22:24: K and I park hopped back to California Adventure to find the dessert party setup. Eric and family doing a few more DL rides first.
  • Sat, 22:47: S had gotten us checked in and looked at the table setup, we have 2, one low, one high, pretty good view of screens area, we think.
  • Sat, 23:22: Dessert party menu and plate.
  • Sat, 23:36: Krissi, me, Shannon. World of Color takes place in the lagoon w projections on Fun Wheel and coaster.
  • Sat, 23:58: They did quite well w dessert plate. Cheddar and Brie good, thin sliced manchego a bit dried out, and French bread slices a bit stale.
  • Sun, 00:22: Cheese bread sticks good. Macaron too sweet for me, as was iced parts of macaroon. Dulce de leche shortbread was my favorite.
  • Sun, 00:24: I had a glass of champagne and several cups of decaf with my dessert plate. Server offering to go boxes, not much left on mine. :)
  • Sun, 01:09: We said goodbye to Eric and family at the Grand Californian gate--they headed back to Disneyland for more rides, we to hotel to crash.
  • Sun, 10:18: Out of hotel at 6:30, off to GC entrance for early hour at Calif Adventure.
  • Sun, 10:33: I grabbed biscuit breakfast sandwich at White Water Snacks and coffee. Biscuit was bigger than cathead, w bacon, cheese, fried egg.
  • Sun, 10:36: Line does move until 7, front gate apparently earlier. Bypassed Soarin (gasp) as we all rode it yesterday. S's last day, will let her lead
  • Sun, 10:38: Monsters Inc ride down, went on to Tower of Terror so S could see West Coast version. Had a car to ourselves.
  • Sun, 10:50: Tower of Terror exclusive ride. Not a priority out here right now...
  • Sun, 10:52: Doubled back and rode Mike and Sulley to the rescue, also the only people on the ride. This one is never priority for folks. Cute dark ride
  • Sun, 10:55: In line for FastPass distribution for Frozen the Musical show, won't start until 8 when the park opens to everyone.
  • Sun, 11:11: Crowd management--held on sidewalk until 8, lead thru Monsters Inc area, then to taped zigzag queue nr theatre. Show ticket, get handed FP
  • Sun, 11:42: Doubled back for Soarin FastPasses, then to Flo's for K and S to get breakfast. Will probably ride Soarin and park hop to DL.
  • Sun, 11:49: Looking to be very hot today, no initial cloud cover to help keep the morning temps from rising.
  • Sun, 11:52: Eating in the "mechanical clinic" room of Flo's.
  • Sun, 11:59: Whoops, forgot we'll do the Frozen musical before moving to DL. Meanwhile S may have set up a meeting w a pin trader. Stay tuned.
  • Sun, 12:32: Have more time than we thought, S interested in riding Calif Screaming again so walked to Pier area. Coaster down, Toy Story line @ 40 min
  • Sun, 13:17: Walked rest of way around pier w/o riding anything, headed to Soarin for FP time. S asked for Row 1 (top), will wait 15 min for next cycle
  • Sun, 13:18: Soarin from center section is better. Only a bit of curvature on Eiffel Tower, all the other scenes looked good.
  • Sun, 13:19: Riding the Red Car Trolley from Carthay Circle to Hollywoodland.
  • Sun, 13:38: FP line already moving from street area to holding pen beside theater. We made a pit stop then went into holding pen.
  • Sun, 13:38: Frozen musical: 55 min to showtime, maybe 45 until we are let into theater
  • Sun, 13:49: 10:45 they make everyone stand up so more people will fit. CM says "stay in the shade" which we manage, other parts of queue are baking.
  • Sun, 14:23: Finally seated in theater, orchestra right and towards back. Digital backdrop w moving water is spectacular.
  • Sun, 14:24: Backdrop projections subtly cover stage as well to give effect of the lake.
